Plans submitted for Hull hotel revamp

Plans to revamp a hotel near a major road in Hull have been submitted to the council.

They include changes to several aspects of the Holiday Inn including the bar and restaurant area, conference facilities, and parts of the building’s facade.

Upgrades are also proposed to the hotel’s external seating area, reception and courtyard.

The changes are planned in connection with the £355m A63 improvement works, which involves lowering the level of the road to create a split-level junction at Mytongate.

According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, access to the Holiday Inn from the A63 Castle Street will be blocked to motorists travelling from the east of the city when the work is completed, expected to be in May 2025.

While motorists will only be able to approach the hotel from the west, pedestrians will still be able to access using the Princes Quay Bridge.

The plans also state the 100-room hotel’s intention to remove its fitness suite and meeting room provision and replace the glazed balconies currently in place.

Hull City Council will decide whether to grant planning permission at a future date.
